The beach, facing the Arabian Sea, is approximately four kilometers long and undeveloped. The beach contains a number of suru trees, which are common to coastal Maharashtra.
There is a small fishing village, where vendors sell fresh fish. Diveagar is a prosperous village located at one end of the triple Raigad beaches. The area is peaceful, clean and sparsely populated. Diveagar is famous for the turtle festival.
Lord Suvarnaganesha Temple is a temple of great significance owing to its 300 years old idol of Lord Ganesha also referred to as Suvarnaganesh. The idol is famed as it is crafted with 24 carat pure gold and measures to be 60 cm tall and weighs as 1.3kg.
Although the mask unfortunately was stolen from the 'Suvarna Ganesh' temple in 2012 the popularity of Diveagar beach.
Harihareshwar temple the main devoties as Brahma Vishnu and Shiva. It is surrounded by three hills named Harihareshwar, Harshinachal and Pushpadri. The river Savitri enters the Arabian Sea from the town of Harihareshwar.
The access to the beach has a dense cover of belu trees. At nearby Harihareshwar one can find dolphins, some sea turtles still lay their eggs on the beach.
Shrivardhan is famous for its beaches and Shri Laxminarayan temple. It is also famous as the ‘Town of the Peshwas’ – the first Peshwa, Balaji Vishwanath hailed from here. It is believed Pandava warrior Arjun visited the town during his pilgrimage.
Shrivardhan offers activities like boating and sailing. The beach is also ideal for swimming since the waters are shallow.
You can just laze on the beach, go for a swim and once you have had your heart’s fill, gorge on the sumptuous cuisine of the beach town.
Janjira Fort or Jal-durg is one of the most impressive structures. This fort in a small town named Murud. The best thing about fort is surrounded by water on all sides and that is also referred to as Island Fort.
The main gate of the fort faces Rajapuri on the shore and can be seen only when one is about 40 feet(12m) away from it.
A special attraction of fort are 3 gigantic cannons Kalalbangdi, Chavri and Landa Kasam. Another gate to the west is sea-facing, called 'Darya Darwaza'.
